1. To celebrate the day that you formed a bond with your Orisa
2. To listen to his/her advise for you for the coming year
3. To be accountable for what you have or haven’t done
4. To recommit to your Orisa in front of your community (if others are there).
It can be a truly humbling experience, and each day… I can see that I still know nothing. I can see that they care about us… and can foresee things that otherwise…. We wouldn’t unless it’s too late. They can formally warn us that day without going to a said ‘reading’… although it’s a type of reading when your Orishas are being cast to. That is the time to see where you are spiritually… and instead of being online and posting pictures of you and your Orisha… the time is better spent… thinking about what they said, and how you can begin to apply what is being said. It’s a time for introspection, and retrospection. We are the creators of our destinies and it’s up to us to do our BEST to find each of said Destiny for ourselves.
I am grateful to my Orishas and to my Ancestors for being there for me, even though I’m truly imperfect… and they still show up to advise me, and to steer me into a much better version of me.
Again… I thank all of you who remembered and mentioned something… and I wanted to share some of it’s meaning. Thank you all for being part of this community and making it an amazing space for everyone.
